How do I find a piper?

First of all get recommendations from musically knowledgeable friends, or call your church, the local symphony, college music department, police or fire department, library, funeral homes and music stores to locate pipers. If you constantly come up with the same name, that's probably your answer. If your fortunate enough to live in an area with several good pipers, you may be able to be more selective.

Do everyone a favor and hire the best musician that you can find. There is often little price difference between a marginal piper and a very good piper.  No one will ever criticize you for having a piper that sounds too good.  A more experienced piper will play a greater breadth and variety of music and may also have some suggestions to add to your event. Furthermore, you'll be promoting quality piping and educating your audience while providing them with a great experience.
